As spring takes hold and we see summer on the horizon, cycling season is truly upon us. It’s time to pull on your short-sleeve jerseys and hit your favourite trails – which are now dry, dusty and smooth instead of wet, muddy and slippery.

As good as your local trails are, we’d bet that the trails in northern Italy eclipse them. Finale Ligure, in particular, offers some of the most exhilarating enduro riding in Europe. The Italian Riviera-based resort provides a range of terrain ideal for mountain biking that attracts both pro riders and holidaymakers looking to challenge themselves.

From sweeping singletrack overlooking the sun-sparkling Mediterranean to flowing downhills through dense forest featuring monster berms, rollers and gap jumps, the Italian resort has something for every type of rider.

And it’s exactly that reason why the EWS-E selected Finale Ligure as the location for its final race of the season on 29 September 2022. SHIMANO is a partner with EWS-E, and for the e-bike category, the best riders from across the world will battle it out across the challenging terrain racing loops that take in both velvety smooth downhills and specially designed technical ascents.

And now, thanks to Shimano, you could be there in person, watching Shimano riders such as Wyn Masters, Mick Hannah or Keegan Wright push themselves to the limit in the EWS-E.

But that’s not all that’s up for grabs in this unmissable competition. Lucky winners will also get the chance to immerse themselves in a unique, carefully crafted e-MTB adventure where they will get to explore one of the most iconic riding destinations in the world, enhanced by the intimate local knowledge of our expert guides.

Winners will have the opportunity to experience the natural-ride feel of the e-MTBs by putting them through their paces on the technical climbs that wind their way up the mountainous terrain. At the summit, riders will be rewarded with views stretching across the sea, before they point their front wheel downwards and test their downhill skills on the flowing trails, ending at the beach where they can cool off with a dip in the sea.

The winners’ all-inclusive itinerary will look like this:

Day 1 (27 September): Winners arrive at the airport and transfer to destination hotel in Finale Ligure. You’ll have lunch with your guide plus a tour briefing, bike set-up and a short warm-up ride before dinner.
Day 2 (28 September): A full-day e-MTB adventure through forests and on the hills overlooking the coast.
Day 3 (29 September): Race day – watch riders in action battling for victory in the EWS-E final stage throughout the day.
Day 4 (30 September): Another chance to shred around the EWS trails before heading home before (or after) lunch. Transfers provided.
