We love a Privateer!

The commitment, graft, and passion it takes to race self-supported at the highest level fills us with admiration, and the wild stories that emerge are always worth a listen. In this episode of Life of a Privateer, we’re sharing the story of Zoe Cuthbert, Canberra’s Queen of the Cross-Country.

“I had to dig really deep. I was in so much pain. I was so happy.”

To rule your own career: Zoe Cuthbert wouldn’t have it any other way. Yet there’s nothing quite like riding cross-country to get you to question your very cycling existence. But don’t take our word for it. Just listen to Zoe as she prepares to battle the elements in scenic Val di Sole: “I had to dig really deep. I was in so much pain. I was so happy.”

Zoe’s entering her last tracks of the year, and she’s going at it hard. She has signed up for both the Cross-Country and the Four-Cross stage of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Italy’s Val di Sole, and the 5-stage EWS race in Loudenvielle, France.

Get ready for motivational singing and pure race enjoyment as Privateer Zoe races through the spectacular and “really Italian” valley. The scene is perfect for a dose of competitive suffering – elevated by the beautiful community the sport attracts.

It’s an inspiring way of life, and the privateers are out to support each other. With a special privateer maintenance crew, #vanlife pasta and podium-champagne, this unique existence is laden with a special kind of flavor. Check out the wild vibe in our latest edition of Life of a Privateer – Cross-Country with Zoe Cuthbert.
